Type Locality and Naming

North Zhejiang. The Hongchicun Fm was named by the Zhejiang Party of Regional Geological Survey in 1975. The typical section is situated in Hongchi village in Fuyang County, Zhejiang Province.

Synonym: （红赤村组）


Lithology and Thickness

The Hongchicun Fm is composed of greenish gray and purplish gray massive pebbly feldspathic litharenite or greywacke intercalated with minor intermediate-basic volcanic rock, with a thickness of 230 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The Hongchicun Fm rests disconformably on the underlying Neoproterozoic Luojiamen Fm

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Shangshu Fm

Regional extent

North Zhejiang. The Hongchicun Fm is restrictedly distributed in Shengcun, Fuyang County to Heshang, Xiaoshan County and Shijiashan and Wangjia, Shaoxing County.

Fossils

It yields microplants: Trematosphaeridium sp., T. holtedahlii, Microconcentrica? sp., Leiopsophosphaera solida, Polyporata sp.
